Most guides to a city's next year are guesswork dressed up as a calendar. This one is not, because Istanbul's 2027 is unusual: three genuinely large events are already locked in and announced by the bodies that run them, which means you can plan around them now rather than waiting for a listings site to catch up.

There is also something this page deliberately does not do, and it is worth saying at the top. There is no announced 2027 concert calendar for Istanbul yet. No major international artist has a confirmed Istanbul date in 2027 that we can find from a primary source. That is completely normal, because stadium and arena tours announce six to twelve months out, so the 2027 concert season will start filling in from roughly late 2026 onward. Anyone publishing a list of "2027 concerts in Istanbul" today is copying aggregator placeholders. We would rather tell you the calendar is empty than invent one.

What is confirmed is bigger than a concert season anyway.

Formula 1 returns to Istanbul Park

The Turkish Grand Prix is back on the Formula 1 calendar from 2027, on a five-year agreement running through the 2031 season. Formula 1 announced it in April 2026 alongside Türkiye's Ministry of Youth and Sports, with the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) named as delivery partner.

One detail from the announcement matters more than the headline: the Turkish Grand Prix is a fixed race, not part of the pool of European events that rotate on and off the calendar year to year. That is the difference between a one-off return and a race you can plan a trip around for the rest of the decade.

Istanbul Park itself needs no rehabilitation. It first joined the calendar in 2005 and built a reputation quickly as one of the most technically demanding tracks in the championship, largely on the strength of Turn 8, a long multi-apex left-hander that drivers still talk about. The circuit last staged a Grand Prix in 2020 and 2021, and the 2020 race is the one people remember: Lewis Hamilton sealed his seventh drivers' title there in the wet, equalling Michael Schumacher's record.

Exact 2027 dates are not out yet. They arrive with the full 2027 calendar. Our longer piece on the return covers what was announced and what a race weekend does to the city, and it will be updated when the date is published.

The 4th European Games, 16 to 27 June 2027

This is the largest thing happening in Istanbul in 2027 and the one least on people's radar outside sport.

The European Olympic Committees have confirmed Istanbul as host of the 4th European Games with a programme of 26 sports and disciplines, of which 22 are directly aligned to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic programme. That alignment is what gives the Games their weight: for a lot of athletes and federations this is a qualifying and ranking event on the road to LA28, not an exhibition.

Three sports make their European Games debut in Istanbul: rowing in its beach sprint format, weightlifting, and squash. The squash inclusion is the interesting one, since squash will appear at the Olympic Games for the first time at LA28. Gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling all return to the programme after being absent from Kraków-Małopolska in 2023.

European Aquatics and the EOC have also confirmed that Istanbul will host two of their championships as part of the Games: the European Aquatics U23 Swimming Championships and the European Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships.

Twelve days, 26 sports, roughly fifty nations. For anyone in the city that fortnight, expect the practical consequences of a multi-sport games rather than a single fixture: venues across both sides of the Bosphorus, accommodation tight well beyond the usual summer squeeze, and transport patterns that shift daily.

The UEFA Conference League final, 2 June 2027

UEFA has confirmed Beşiktaş Park as the venue for the 2027 UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday 2 June 2027. The ground sits on the European shore of the Bosphorus with a capacity of around 40,000, and this would be its third major UEFA occasion after the 2019 UEFA Super Cup and the 2026 Europa League final.

This one carries a real caveat, and we are going to state it rather than bury it. The Turkish Football Federation has moved to ask UEFA to relocate the final to the New Ankara Stadium, which is under construction, if that ground is finished in time. So the venue is confirmed by UEFA and simultaneously subject to a live request to change it. If you are planning travel specifically around this fixture, watch it rather than assuming it.

June 2027 is the part to actually plan around

Put the two June events side by side and the shape of the year becomes obvious. A UEFA final on 2 June. The European Games opening on 16 June and running to the 27th. Two weeks apart, in one city, in the middle of high season.

If you are coming to Istanbul for either, the practical advice is unusually simple and unusually important: book accommodation early, and book it near a metro line rather than near the venue. Istanbul absorbs crowds well because the transport network is good, but hotel pricing in June 2027 is going to reflect a fortnight of international demand stacked on top of normal summer tourism.

If you are living here, June 2027 is the month to expect everything to be busier, more expensive and more interesting than usual.

A few things worth knowing either way:

  • The metro closes around midnight on weeknights but runs through the night on several lines on Friday and Saturday nights. For an evening fixture that matters more than the taxi apps do. Our metro hours guide has the line-by-line detail.
  • Beşiktaş Park is on the European side and walkable from Kabataş. Istanbul Park is on the Asian side near Tuzla, a long way out, and getting back from a race is a genuinely different problem from getting back from a city-centre gig.
  • Where you stay changes the trip more here than in most cities, because crossing the Bosphorus at the wrong time of day costs an hour. Our where to stay guide breaks the neighbourhoods down by what each is actually for.

What we will add, and when

This page is maintained rather than published and forgotten. Three things will be added as they become confirmable from a primary source: the 2027 Turkish Grand Prix date when the F1 calendar is published, the European Games venue and sport schedule when the organising committee releases it, and the 2027 concert calendar as tours announce.

None of it gets added on the strength of an aggregator listing. We checked the late 2026 concert calendar the same way and found a show listed in Istanbul that was actually in Athens, and another that had been cancelled while ticket sites still showed it live. Dates here come from the body that owns them or they wait.

Last checked: 18 August 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What big events are happening in Istanbul in 2027?

Three are confirmed: the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix returns to Istanbul Park on a deal running to 2031, the 4th European Games run 16 to 27 June with 26 sports, and the UEFA Conference League final is scheduled for Beşiktaş Park on 2 June. Exact F1 dates arrive with the 2027 calendar.

When are the European Games in Istanbul?

16 to 27 June 2027. The European Olympic Committees have confirmed 26 sports and disciplines, 22 of them aligned to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic programme, plus two European Aquatics championships hosted as part of the Games.

Which concerts are announced in Istanbul for 2027?

None that can be confirmed from a primary source yet, and that is normal. Large tours announce six to twelve months ahead, so the 2027 calendar fills in from late 2026 onward. Lists of 2027 Istanbul concerts published now are generally aggregator placeholders rather than announced shows.

Is the 2027 Conference League final definitely in Istanbul?

UEFA has confirmed Beşiktaş Park, but the Turkish Football Federation has asked UEFA to move it to the New Ankara Stadium if that ground is completed in time. Treat the venue as confirmed but not settled, and check before booking travel around it.
